Blue Ocean Mariculture employs a variety of sustainable farming practices to reduce our impact on ocean water quality, benthic health and wildlife.
Net pens are located in areas of high water exchange and fish stocking densities are restricted to preserve water quality and benthic health. Feed events are visually observed to reduce the risk of waste and benthic buildup.
Anchoring systems are designed to minimize the benthic footprint of the farm and net pen moorings are engineered to eliminate the risk of wildlife entanglement. Fully submersible net pens are employed to minimize the visual impact of the farm.
Blue Ocean’s farming practices have been reviewed and certified by the following organizations.
