Hawaiian Kanpachi are farm-raised in the deep, open ocean waters off the Kona coast. Consistent water temperature, strong ocean currents and a high capacity for renewal make these waters ideal for sustainable finfish mariculture.
The Blue Ocean family (‘ohana) has a deep appreciation for Hawaiian cultural ties to the land (‘aina) and the sea (kai). We support the restoration of ancient Hawaiian fish ponds (loko i’a), one of the earliest forms of aquaculture. We understand that the ocean around Hawai’i is a special place and we show respect for the sea (malama kai) in everything we do.
